Venues like Z109 Video Bar are vital to a city like Clearwater's energy. Clearwater has a fine tradition of providing venues where a whole spectrum of possibilities unfold night after night. From beach bum dive bars, or crowds of rowdy youths indulging their friends in pimped out cars while they have a quick cruise around the local beach boulevard. All this is the backdrop for Club Z109, which has spun the birth of brave new high-heeled world, inhabited by sweet and seductive ditties and break beats.

The three bars in one location atmosphere are friendly, and light. The bar staff is delightful, and funny. It is a bit of a cross dressers hang out, although people are of all ages, races, and sexual identities are welcome; which is quite endearing as it means there is a chilled out, come one come all feel. You can relax on the patio or deck surrounded by palm trees and tiki lamps, or move the party in doors to get your groove on with classic tracks and unique cabaret shows hosted by Bobbie Lake, Janelle Jackson, and Tyler in the main dance area. If the patio and main dance hall is not your scene, feel free to snuggle up in the upstairs show lounge here you can enjoy local boys and girls, or boys as girls, or girls as boys (oh hell I'm so confused) displaying their talents in the talent show. I highly recommend you all check this out. Trust me, you will be glad you did! "Entertaining" would be an understatement for this venue.

In line with the colorful unique crowd, the main style statement seems to be that of a gender bent world where boys are girls, girls are boys, girls who used to be boys, and boys who look like girls but want to be boys, all come together. The overall feel of the club is that of fun and entertainment. Owners Amber (Flawless), and Sally (kisses) and bar manager Mitch (Slow down girl you always moving) ensure there is always something to catch your eye.

What I like about venues like this is that although it is somewhat out of the "NORM," most people come by word of mouth. Once you're in, it's a great experience that should be had by everyone. It's not upscale or chic, and no one knows quite what is going to happen next. The delicious possibility of being wonderfully surprised is ever so lurking behind each door.

Of course there's the risk of being bored witless by a worthy diva in knock off Minolos, but there's also the chance of experiencing the utter satisfaction of seeing a great show that will make you feel good at the time, and smug or wonderfully confused afterwards. What I love about this place is you're not too old, too fat, too thin, too butch or too femme to enjoy a good time here.
